admission procedures from academic year 2028\/2029<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">Starting from academic year <strong>2028\/29<\/strong>, the admission procedures for the Master of Science in High Performance Computing Engineering will change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new procedures distinguish between three groups of candidates:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Students with a first-level degree obtained at <strong>Politecnico di Milano<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Students with a first-level degree obtained at <strong>other Italian universities<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Students with a <strong>foreign qualification<\/strong> comparable to an Italian first-level degree.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What will change in practice?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">If you are studying at Politecnico di Milano, you will be able to access the Master of Science through two routes: <strong>automatic admission<\/strong> if you meet specific conditions, or <strong>admission subject to eligibility assessment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Automatic admission<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">Automatic admission is available only to students coming from specific Bachelor\u2019s degree programmes at Politecnico di Milano, in particular <strong>Computer Science and Engineering<\/strong> and <strong>Mathematical Engineering<\/strong>, and requires specific conditions regarding academic progress and study plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In particular, to be admitted automatically, you must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>be a <strong>regular third-year student in academic year 2027\/2028<\/strong>, after having enrolled in the first year in academic year 2025\/2026;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">have obtained <strong>at least 135 credits<\/strong> after the fifth semester;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">have a weighted average grade of at least <strong>23\/30<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have included in your study plan, or completed, <strong>specific courses<\/strong> required for your degree programme, as indicated in the table below.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n<div class=\"hpc-mobility-table-wrap\">\n  <table class=\"hpc-mobility-table\">\n    <thead>\n      <tr>\n admission to the Master of Science is <strong>automatic<\/strong>: assessment by the Admission Committee is not required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Admission subject to eligibility assessment<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">If you do not qualify for automatic admission, or if you come from another degree programme at Politecnico di Milano, from another Italian university, or from a foreign university, that is not a problem. In this case, your application for admission will be <strong>assessed<\/strong> by the Admission Committee, which will evaluate your previous academic background and the suitability of your preparation in relation to the objectives of the Master of Science in HPC Engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For some candidates, additional educational requirements or specific indications regarding curricular choices in the Master\u2019s study plan may be assigned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading alignwide has-contrast-3-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-a54f6360ff957366f71c94ac8e204d16\">Admission Requirements <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group translation-block is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\nTo be admitted to the MSc in HPC Engineering, candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a solid coursework in Computer Science and Computer Engineering (at least 20 credits), Mathematics and Statistics (at least 20 credits), as well as exams in Physics and Engineering (at least 10 credits).\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-contrast-1-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-d57740e99cf714c08317391be9f0276d wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">In case of specific gaps in skills considered essential for HPC, the evaluation of the admission request may result in the assignment of <strong>study plan obligations<\/strong> (\"obblighi formativi\"), which are specific exams that must be included in the Master's study plan, replacing one or more elective courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:59px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading alignwide has-contrast-3-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-834f0fd8c24da4758f5d0df447ab108a\">Useful advice: plan ahead!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If you are studying for a Bachelor\u2019s degree at Politecnico di Milano<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-contrast-1-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-17a01c3a007998ceac10fb199dc93aa8 wp-block-paragraph\">If you are in the second or third year of a Bachelor\u2019s degree at Politecnico di Milano and are considering continuing with the MSc in HPC Engineering, we recommend that you include in your current study plan the courses indicated in the table for automatic admission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">This choice is useful even if you do not meet, or think you may not meet, all the other conditions required for automatic admission. Having already taken these courses will allow you to start the Master of Science with stronger preparation that is more consistent with the HPC Engineering study course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">In addition, if you are admitted through <strong>eligibility assessment<\/strong>, having already passed relevant exams may help you avoid any additional educational requirements to be fulfilled during the Master\u2019s programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">If you come from another Bachelor\u2019s degree programme at Politecnico di Milano, other than Computer Science and Engineering or Mathematical Engineering, you may consider using your <strong>elective credits<\/strong> to include courses that are useful for access to the Master\u2019s degree, especially if your programme does not already include equivalent exams. When these courses are not part of the standard educational offer of your Bachelor\u2019s degree programme, in many cases it is possible to propose their inclusion through an autonomous study plan (<strong> piano autonomo<\/strong>). This choice must be approved by the study plan advisor of your current degree programme, who will verify the compatibility of the courses with the rest of your academic curriculum and with the programme regulations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-contrast-1-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-c72eedc9834299b5c5993308df9f8923 wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">If you would like to check how well your current study plan aligns with continuation onto the HPC Master\u2019s programme, and whether you may receive any additional educational requirements upon admission, you can contact <a href=\"mailto:hpc-master@polimi.it\" target=\"_self\">hpc-master@polimi.it<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:22px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading alignwide has-contrast-3-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-83138708b5664b43fad22fbd47073a58\">If you are studying at another university<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are studying at another university, the recommendation is similar: where possible, we suggest that you include in your current study plan exams that cover, in part or in full, the topics indicated above (fundamentals of numerical analysis, operations research, but also computer architectures and algorithms) so as to ensure a solid foundation in the required disciplines and facilitate continuation of your studies in HPC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading alignwide has-contrast-3-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ea2f2fa36d7aaabfaec93c9719fa169b\">English proficiency requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Admission to the Master\u2019s programme is also subject to an English language verification process, through the submission of one of the certifications accepted by the University and in compliance with the minimum scores required for each test.
